I can’t believe it’s already time to start a new school year! Since we homeschool, I try to plan for the upcoming year by early summer. Once I have my supply list of everything the kids will need, I hold off until closer to the end of summer. I love to buy most my supplies on amazon for the ease then usually grab any smaller items at the dollar store or Walmart. Here’s the basic supplies we ordered this year plus some new free reads and classic literature finds.
This year I’m teaching PreK, Kindergarten, and first grade! I get our core curriculum straight from their shops but all of our additional literature or free reads I get elsewhere. I love checking thrift stores for classic literature books first before I order from amazon. You can always check out what books you need from your local library as you go but I love having our own copy.
Here are some of our favorite literature finds that we read last year. My kids loved these books and have already requested we read a few of them again this year. Most of these books have short book guides on etsy filled with fun activities by chapter. We also watched the classic movie after we finished each book. Highly recommend! I’ll link some of my favorites for you!
My favorite kid find this year was discovering the Yoto and Yoto Mini. This is a kids audio book and music player. It can be completely offline, so I don’t have to worry about my kids buying anything or filtering content. It also has timer and alarm settings that can be controlled by my phone. You can buy cards with different stories or buy blank cards and fill them with your own. My kids recorded family members reading their school songs and stories. I have more on this coming, but I’ll link them here for now.
